On the night of Thursday, October 29, 2026, at about 10 p.m., the Tallman Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 2 Beatrix Road in Airmont, near the corner of Smith Hill Road.
Tallman requested mutual aid from Suffern, Hillcrest, Hillburn, Mahwah and Upper Saddle River fire departments. Ramapo Police, Faist EMS, Hatzoloh, New York State Police and Chaverim of Rockland also responded, and additional departments were placed on standby.
The building sustained significant damage. One firefighter was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
State Senator Bill Weber visited the scene, spoke with fire officials, and thanked the firefighters and all of the agencies involved.
Job well done by all members and agencies who responded. Our thoughts are with the occupants, and we wish our injured firefighter a full and speedy recovery.
